Although a lot of hands went
behind organising this, would like to especially thank
By sheer
coincidence although chavers had a better team on paper, the number of players
who could commit to 9 weeks wasnt looking good
after injuries. Thanks to Cicil
for his excellent coordination and ensuring that a full team was always
there which helped us a lot in travelling this far.Its going to be a great loss
to us when he leaves us. Also to Roshan for continuing
the team management job like a fish taking to water.
Santhosh for looking after the commuting arrangements of the sizeable 'Braddon
Boys' which again was vital in ensuring our
viability.

Community
Soccer , Future
We would like to hand over the next years
soccer organising to Anil K, Anil F and Sagar. As we have seen with
cricket ,Rotation of organising and
captaincy responsibilities would ensure we gain wider acceptability in the years
to come.
As much as its important we rotate its equally important we
preserve the basic concepts behind our community events like kappa trophy ,
sports day,coconut trophy,winter series etc and use our creativity on making it
better as concepts only gain acceptability over years.
Accounts
Deficit : $70.00
TOtal Income :
$600.00 (30 x $20).

Whats Next
in concept creation...
* 2008-2009 Summer Beach Volley ball 7 match + final series
* Starts in December
* 3 teams
o Thrissur (Thrissur,Palakkad,Ernakulam
)
o Kollam (Idukki,Kottayam,Pathanamthitta, Kollam,Trivandrum
,Allapuzha)
o Kannur (Kasargod,Kannur,Wayanad,Kozhikode,
Malapuram).
* Star
Players to be balanced between teams irrespective of the team
guide.
* AFL type jerseys
* Season cost : $15-$20 includes jersey.
* Let Joshan
or Bijoy know if you would like to join organising
this.
Lessons we learnt..
Take a 2 week
break in between and publish dates early so that players can organise
family commitments around that.
One of our
biggest shortcomming has been not
being able to have drills and warm up
session and probably the reason why we had plenty of injuries.
Future
Suggestion: The ones who are interested can come 30 minutes earlier and go
through the joint drill +warm up run by someone senior like
Radhakrishnan Uncle etc
or technically sound generation next (Danny Williams
comes to mind) ..
We should try to avoid playing on the smaller fields as injuries rise while playing
here. A mistake on our part not to make all the 9 bookings together on field
8.
We landed upon the jersey colors blue and maroon by popular opinion,
but the good thing is these are also the colors that are easy to procure on demand as and whe n new players join, due to rugby season
being on at this time of the year. Pls try to preserve these colors for future
series jerseys.
We should
have published playing code which could have avoided some onfield
arguments eg: When foot rises about knee level to reach ball is it foul ? What
constitutes handball ? what is a foul throw ?
Finally a request to all non cricket playing members of the
playing group, pls try to come to the Annual AGM
next year so that we can elect organisers and discuss items and hear
views thats reflective of our broader sporting activities

Grand Final - Soccer winter 2008 9 match series
Dear All ,
Grand Final is here at last.
Promotional Video(Sound Required):
Promotional Video(Sound Required):
To win the right to conduct the culturally significant "Toddy Nite" festival (Canberra
Malayalees very own Mamangam) , Samoothiris only need a draw in the
grand Final. If Chavers win , there will be a penalty shoot out to
decide the victor. The losers will have to graciously accept the
humiliation of going through the act of drinking "orange juice" served
either by the Vellathiri or the Samoothiri at the festival.
Alrite lets get to real stuff now.
Awards
* We will have three awards(Golden Boot,Best Player,Best Defender) to be presented at the Onam Community Celeberations in September.
* If you would like to
nominate a player for Best Player Award or Best Defender Award could
you pls send a nomination for respective categories via email to
Roshan,Sibu and Bijoy. The player with the maximum nominations wins the
awards.
Game Rules
* The match will be officiated by external referee Wayne Naidoo ( thanks to Binu for organising).
* Referees Decision is final and players are discouraged from raising objections.
* We would have "Red Cards" for the final as part of the game rules as we expect it to be a highly intense game.
* Teams will have to play with a player less for 15 mins if a "red card" is issued.
* As we have a external ref its important that each players wears jersey.
* Samoothiris only need a draw to win the series.
* If Chavers win, We
will have penalty shoot outs. During shoot outs only the shooter and
the goaley should be present in shoot out half . others pls wait at
half line.
* Pls try to be on time 3 p.m Field 5.
Catch you all at the Grand Final
